What is Mississauga Youth Theatre

Mississauga Youth Theatre (MYT) was founded in 1990 by Michael Harding and Anthony Bastianon to give young people the opportunity to explore all aspects of theatre: drama, music, dance, technical theatre, design, writing, creativity and much, much more.

Since then, it has grown to be one of the most accomplished theatre companies for young performers, directors, music directors, stage managers and countless other theatre positions in Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area.

MYT Members

The key to MYT's success over the past seasons has been the leadership of professional artists who work closely with the young people. These professionals, experienced in both theatre and education, combine their love for the arts and children in their work with MYT. They share their skills and talents in the arts while always ensuring that creativity, teamwork, discipline, and great fun are an integral part of all MYT activities and productions.

In 2006, MYT was proud to be the recipient of the Mississauga Arts Award - Performing Arts Group (Established) by Mississauga Arts Council.

MYT is open to any youth between the ages of 7 and 25.

WHAT TO PREPARE FOR THE AUDITION: There are two components for the audition: singing and movement. For the singing audition, you will audition individually and should prepare one song to sing. It is best to prepare a song that you know well. If possible, bring sheet music for your song (a pianist will be provided). For this audition, a pop, Broadway or Disney song is the best choice. Singing along with a recording of any kind is not allowed. For the movement audition, you will be taught a basic routine in a group. Optional additional component to this audition: If you have any special skills like juggling, acro, magic, or anything interesting, please be prepared to demonstrate or talk about the special skill at your audition.
